Who We Are

Suborno Nagorick Unnoyan Sangstha (SNUS) is a rights-based organization founded and led by persons with disabilities in 2018. The organization works to address intersectional challenges by promoting inclusive development through skill development, improved access to essential services, and strengthening community leadership. SNUS is committed to advancing dignity, equality, and active participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.

Vision

To create an inclusive and sustainable society that empowers persons with disabilities to live with equal opportunities and dignity. We envision a community where barriers are removed and everyone can participate fully in social and economic life.

Mission

To mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on persons with disabilities, strengthen capacity building and skill development, promote disability sports, and extend financial and in-kind support for disability-focused initiatives.

Goal

To build an inclusive, resilient, and equitable society where persons with disabilities and marginalized groups have equal opportunities, access to resources, and the capacity to lead dignified lives while contributing to sustainable community development.

Our Objectives

  • Advocate for inclusive climate adaptation and disability rights.
  • Build skills and capacities of persons with disabilities through training and IGAs.
  • Promote inclusive education, healthcare, physiotherapy, and job placement.
  • Support disability sports, recreation, and cultural participation.
  • Provide assistive devices, stipends, and scholarships to children and youth with disabilities.
  • Implement afforestation, climate resilience, and environment-friendly programs.
  • Facilitate legal aid for women with disabilities and promote gender justice.
  • Operate emergency response and relief during disasters and crises.

Our Activities

Awareness Raising, Advocacy & Governance:
Organize community meetings, courtyard sessions, rallies, human chains, and press briefings to advocate for inclusive governance, climate justice, disability’s rights, and local decision-making participation. Collaborate with local government and community committees to strengthen accountability and civic engagement.
Education, Training, and Capacity Building:
Conduct workshops, training sessions, and peer learning on disaster preparedness, climate adaptation, leadership, entrepreneurship, and gender equality to build local skills and institutional capacity.
Disability Empowerment and Inclusion:
Support persons with disabilities through assistive devices, accessibility interventions, skill development and inclusive participation in community programs. Ensure equitable access to education, livelihood opportunities, and social protection.
Health, Hygiene, Sanitation, and Nutrition:
Promote safe water, hygiene, and sanitation practices through the construction of disaster-resilient toilets, rehabilitation of water sources, distribution of hygiene kits, and nutrition awareness campaigns.
Disaster Management and Emergency Support:
Provide preparedness training, early-warning systems, relief distribution, and emergency support for communities affected by cyclones, floods, and salinity intrusion. Facilitate repair of roads, bridges, and disaster-resilient shelters to enhance safety and mobility.
Income-Generating Activities and Livelihood Promotion:
Support homestead gardening, climate-resilient agriculture, livestock rearing, handicrafts, and small business initiatives. Provide tools, training, and technical support to enhance economic resilience for persons with disabilities and marginalized households.
Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment:
Form persons with disabilities self-help groups (SHGs), strengthen leadership, decision-making, and collective action.
Social Forestry, Agriculture, and Fisheries Development:
Implement community-based plantations, riverbank greening, sustainable agriculture, and fisheries programs. Promote natural resource conservation and climate-resilient environmental practices to support livelihoods and ecosystem health
